Metha and Melisa painting series #3 - Guava (Jambu) tree climbing

Besides Metha’s family and mine being neighbors, we also had a friend named  Fenty who lived three houses from me.
On Fenty’s yard grew an alluring guava tree (pohon jambu) that always fascinated us to climb especially when the fruits were ripen.
Like most children, we were obsessed with tree climbing, and we did often climbed Fenty’s tree especially when the jambu were ready for picking.

My painting illustrates Fenty, Metha and I climbed the guava tree. It sort of shows how children and tree climbing are a match in heaven.

A story of friendship and connection:My friends, Velly, Dessy and Refita were inseparable in elementary school. They did many things together, whether having slumber parties, doing homework or chilling out by walking to spend the day.My painting depicts their walking up the hill, then sitting together at the top having snacks. In their adults life now, they all live far apart, but I am sure they are still very close at heart. Their long lasting friendship is truly beautiful and remarkable...I often call them “Tiga Sekawan!”My brother, Buddy Rahardjo, took the photograph during his hike at Pec-Tromeja Mountain, located at the triple border between Austria, Italy and Slovenia within the Julian Alps region. I used his photo for the background of this painting. I hope you enjoy my painting.
